8th August 2004 Paragliding - Gliding: Husbands Bosworth Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered: Task TP's Location Distance HB3 HUS START EAST BED Bedford Bridge -River/Rail Br 46.3 km GRW Grafham Water -SE Tower 22.1 km LUT Lutterworth -M1 J20/A427 64.0 km HBW HUS FINISH WEST 9.6 km Total = 142.0 km Started with Andy Davies, (trying to thermal an ASH at 100knts is damn hard work) but lost him almost straight away. 12-15 knt head winds out to the first turn point and could not get a decent climb. got overtaken by some who had climbed high before that point and then had to play catch up. Good climb at the first turn point to 5500ft, which put me onto final glide! Only achieved about 65kph on the first leg. Far to slow. Speeded up for the next 2 legs, to pull the average speed up to 94kph. Slow day, not sure what went so wrong on the first leg, Possibly the wrong route and I should have gone further south? Pretty windy today, saw the boats and boards out on Graffam (spelling?) water - seems to be ages since I got wet.... Flight 2:15, Task 1:26 |
